“Parka” he shouts happily, when we ask him where we’re going, “Parka!”

Anita didi said in the group chat, “I dreamt that Richu was eating mushrooms. Such big and dazzling white mushrooms, they looked delicious.”

“Wow,” I responded, my standard response every time someone tells me they dreamt about me. Because it must mean their subconscious, at least, is thinking of me.

Of course I know Anita didi thinks of me, subconsciously or otherwise. We have been close, close friends for over a decade now, and though we have lived in different countries half the time, our chats are dripping with affection and remembrance.

So then I immediately googled, “What does eating mushrooms in dreams mean?”

I skipped a couple of websites just because, and decided I would read a particular one.

The answer, my friend, left me stunned.

“At the initial stages, the image means a favorable physiological state of the expectant mother. Nothing threatens the fetus, and the pregnancy promises to pass pleasantly, without any stressful situations…” and so on.

That question about a pregnant woman? It just came up randomly in the explanation.

No one knew I was expecting, save my husband and me — and the doctor.
