Why I Wrote a Letter to then-Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos
Because a seller account threatened to leave me bankrupt
“Dear Mr. Bezos,
Greetings from Washington DC.”
I began my letter to the CEO of Amazon, and then stopped to gather my thoughts.
It was February 2021, and I had spent the last two months trying to contact Amazon seller account support. I was frustrated, irritated, and exasperated. After trawling through numerous seller forums and Reddit posts, a helpful blogger mentioned that he had written to Bezos about his issue, and it had been resolved.
I was attempting to do the same.
I have professionally handled enough social media accounts and email services to know that the email would go straight to a posse of highly competent staff, yet I wanted to take this last chance to use my voice. I had to tell someone everything that was wrong!
The story begins when I arrived in the United States from Nepal, and promptly signed up for an Amazon buyer’s account. I have my differences with Amazon, as plenty of us do. Yet I cannot deny how easy and safe it made my life, particularly when the pandemic raged around us. I still love the service in many ways.
